Minecraft version 2.0 was announced by Mojang Studios on February 3, 2032, just after the well-received 1.25 Nostalgia Update was released. The update involves a complete overhaul of most of the game mechanics already present, and was released to the public on December 18, 2033. It is by far the largest update in the history of Minecraft, complete with official lore, and it also took very long to make, with 78 snapshots.
Changelog[]
Improved World Generation[]
The default height range has increased to the massive range of -4096 to 4096. Mountains will now generate much higher as a result. The world now generates in a continental manner, with landmasses ranging from 10 chunk islands to 10,000 chunk supercontinents generating in a massive ocean. Where continents intersect, mountain ranges generate. Older mountain ranges show signs of previous tectonic movements, and massive fault lines will occasionally generate.
Improved NPC Behaviour[]
General[]
All sentient races in Minecraft now have a relationship meter that can be checked in the pause menu. Higher relations will result in members of the races accompanying the player, but lower relations will result in them attacking the player. Relations change according to your actions.
Villagers[]
Will now do trade between villages. Villagers now have a Military force consisting of Villager Warriors, Villager Archers, and Villager Constructs (originally Iron Golems) that continually attempt to take over Pillager Outposts and Woodland Mansions. The default relationship value of villagers is Positive, meaning they will be quite happy to trade with players.
Illagers[]
Will now attempt to conduct raids on villages and defend outposts and mansions. They will capture surviving villagers and enslave them to do work. The default relationship value of illagers is Highly Negative, meaning they will go out of their way to kill you.
Endermen[]
Will now attempt to protect Warped Cities from Wither Skeletons. The default relationship value of endermen is Neutral, meaning they will only attack you if you attack them.
Piglins[]
Will now attempt to build new Bastions and research a cure for the Z-Virus. The default relationship value of piglins is Slightly Negative, meaning they will attack you, but can easily be swayed away from fighting to focus on a common goal. Or just with some gold.
Angels[]
Will now attempt to assist the villagers, piglins, and endermen for they have a good cause. The default relationship value of angels is Highly Positive, meaning they will easily join forces with you.
Netherkin[]
Will now attempt to take over Nether Fortresses and retake the Overworld. The default relationship value of netherkin is Slightly Positive, meaning they will help you a bit.
Wither Skeletons[]
Will now attempt to take over the Nether and wipe out all opposition using Withers, before proceeding to invade the Overworld.
Pigmen[]
As pigmen really don't have any reason to go beyond the Underworld, they will not do much. However, they will attempt to help the piglins in curing the Z-Virus by sending infected pigmen to the Nether for research.
Lore???[]
Naturally generating bookshelves now contain actual books that can help you understand the lore of Minecraft. Most of these books are written in enchanting table language (the Standard Galactic Alphabet), but the endermen can give you the Ender Translator, which translates the books into normal readable language.
