Endephants are large hostile mobs by Baryonyx. They spawn within Purpurian Dungeons.
Spawning[]
Purpurian Dungeons[]
Endephants spawn in the underground part of Purpuran Dungeons in some corridors and rooms on generation and won't despawn, unless if the difficulty is set to Peaceful.
Drops[]
Endephants always drop an Endephant Tusk, unaffected by looting. They also have a 25% chance to drop a Purpearl. Each level of looting increases this by 20%. They also drop 20 experience, tied with the Ravager as the highest out of non-boss mobs.
Behaviour[]
As with other hostile mobs, Endephants attack players within 32 blocks radius. Their attacks fling and also knock the target away. In addition, they also attack any mob who accidentaly hits them, except for Shulkers and Purplins.
As Endephants are included as End Mobs, they are immune to Purpur damage, End Crystal explosion, and Ender Dragon attacks and knockbacks, and also become neutral to players wearing any piece of Enderite Armor. They will become hostile again however if the player opens nearby blocks in guarded_by_purpurans tag or the player hits one of them and other Purplins and Shulkers.
Endephants can detect the breaking and opening of blocks within a range of 16 blocks in a straight line from the player (this can be altered with the invisibility effect). The block interacted with does not require a line of sight to anger the chorusotheriums.
Iron Golems attack Endephants; They do not attack an Iron Golem until it attacks first.
Endephants can't ride other entities (including boats and minecarts), and will immediately dismount if summoned riding an entity using commands.
Endephants attempt to kill endermites, which occasionally spawn from the use of ender pearls. They can spot endermites from a distance of 32 blocks, the same distance as a provocative player.
Teleportation[]
When teleporting, for each attempt a random destination is chosen within 8 blocks along each axis (i.e. a 16×16×16 cuboid centered on the current position). It then seeks downward (regardless of distance, from the chosen destination until the block below is made of a movement-blocking material. The teleportation attempt succeeds if no liquid or solid blocks prevent them from standing at the destination. Thus endephants need at least 3x3x3 area free of solid blocks on the destination to successfully teleport. Endephants never teleport into waterlogged and lavalogged blocks. Exceptions are carpet that is not above a block made of a movement-blocking material, lily pads and snow layers stacked 10 deep or more, as their materials are not flagged as blocking movement even though the blocks themselves do so.
Endephants always attempt to teleport upon taking damage from projectiles, fire, and lava, albeit they aren't immune to projectiles unlike endermen and purplins. They also always attempt to teleport while submerged in water, even though they are immune from it. When teleporting due to damage and water, an endephant can make up to 64 attempts to teleport. They also attempt to teleport behind the player if their attacks are blocked three times by the player using a shield continually without the player attacking.
They play a sound exclusively at the teleportation destination.
Trivia[]
- Endephant's name is derived from "End" and "Elephant".
- Endephants cannot ride on other entities; if summoned as a passenger they dismount immediately.
