1.19, the first release of Musically Painted, is a major update to Java Edition announced at Minecraft Festival 2021 and released on March 1st, 2022. This update overhauls Paintings and music by adding new Paintings, custom Paintings, new music, and Recorders.

Blocks

Recorder

  • A block used to record sounds from Note Blocks.
  • If a Recorder is powered by a Redstone signal, it will record any Note Block in a 50 by 50 by 256 block area.
    • This will only work if an Empty Music Disc is put on it.
  • Crafted with 1 Note Block and 1 Empty Music Disc.
  • Does not record Levers, Buttons, or Pressure Plates.
  • Will keep recording as long as it is powered.
  • If right-clicked when it has finished recording, it will open up an interface where the player can name the Music Disc and add colors, then the player can take take the Music Disc from a square on the bottom of the interface.

Items

Canvas

  • An item used to make custom Paintings.

Empty Music Disc

  • An item used to create custom Music Discs.

Harp

  • A weapon that can be obtained by trading with Wandering Traders.
  • When used, it will play a random Note Block sound, and deal four damage to all mobs in a seven by seven area and gives them Slowness X (00:03).
  • It has 30 durabillity.

Music Disc

  • Added custom Music Discs.

Painting

  • Added custom Paintings.

Non-Mob Entities

Easel

  • A block-entity that is used to make custom Paintings.
  • Crafted with 5 Sticks.
  • Canvases can be placed on them.
    • If right-clicked with a Canvas on them, they will open up an interface.
      • This will let the player create custom Paintings.
      • The width and height can also be changed to a maximum of 4 by 4, and a minimum of 1 by 1.

Painting

  • Added custom variant.
    • Created with a Canvas.

Gameplay

Music

  • Added 7 new music, 1 for creative mode, 2 for the End, 1 for the Overworld, and 3 for the Nether.
