This is what a lattice is.
Lattices are patterns of crossed lines. Like those fences made of diamonds (the shape, not the material) or something. You know what I'm talking about, you've seen them.
In Creatures of the Void, lattices are described by Keaton as "the number one enemy of players, Lifeshapers, and anything that can live after death". It is unknown why this is, though it is partly genetic and partly due to a curse supposedly placed by Hyakan Cataflare on them in the early days of Hestion, which causes disastrous coincidences to happen to players near them.

- A lattice shape is part of the construction of a Deconstruct Sword, as the two mineral strands are interlaced in the shape of one.
