  • DISCLAIMER: This describes an update on the FANON website. When 1.17.1 is released in the near future and if it does not update what this page says it will, please do not troll me in the comments about how this is not in the real game. Thank you :)

1.17.1 was released as a surprise a month after the 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update, on September 14th, 2021. There were no snapshots prior to the release, so many bugs came with this update. Luckily, 1.17.2 was released two days later fixing numerous bugs from 1.17.1.

Icicles have been added. They drip water by themselves when exposed to heat, and the bottom has a chance of melting when exposed to heat. They generate exclusively in the Blizzard Tunnels Cave Biome.

Lava Pools are spread throughout the cave with a few Obsidian Waterfalls scattered around the place. Basalt Pillars like the ones in the Nether generate in this biome as well. There is no glow lichen, it was all burnt by the lava, and the only signs of live are dead coral fans on the walls and Bone Blocks scattered around. Magma Cubes spawn here along with other overworld monsters. But to reward you for the dangers of this biome, Diamonds spawn here more often than in any other cave biome.

Blizzard Caves:

Only generate in the new Mountain Biomes. They spawn with packed ice and icicles. Strays generate very commonly in here, and lakes of Blue Ice can sometimes be found. Powdered Snow replaces all gravel in the cave, be sure to bring your leather boots!

Drifting Mountains: A mountain sub-biome that only generates next to Jungles. Unlike the wooded mountains, it only spawns between a Mountain and a Jungle, very rare conditions, especially because these two do not often spawn near each other, making this one of the rarest subbiomes in Minecraft. The Drifting Mountains are similar to the Shattered Savannah except they are much shorter, with terrain only reaching up to y156. However, what makes this subbiome unique, is that it is filled with floating islands, some of them very small, and some of them very large. Under the floating Islands is a hilly jungle, filled with Stone, Jungle Trees, and normal Jungle things. On top of the islands are like normal mountains, with Jungle Trees and et cetera.

The Developers have confirmed this biome wasn't finished, and it was given a massive update in 1.19: Combat, Enchanting, Adventure! with the addition of Sapper Plants, Snapper Traps, and Whiptails.

Waterfalls: Large Waterfalls Generate in Wooded Moutains. Mist Particles generate at the bottom of them the waterfalls can start rivers and lakes. Very rarely there is a lava variant!
