Minecraft 1.24, also just known as The Update that Changed the World II, is a major update released on July 27, 2025. It adds weapon rarities to the game, completely revamps the forest and desert biomes, and also acts as a second Update Aquatic.

Changes

  • Bugs fixed.
  • Build height is now 500 blocks and the bottom of the world is 300 blocks lower.
  • The Deep Dark Biome now only generates a lot deeper.
  • Things can be placed below the void in creative mode.
  • Zombies will now turn into husks upon entering the Nether.
  • Fur renamed to seal fur.

Changes to the forest biome

  • Dark Oak and Spruce trees can now occasionally spawn in normal forests.
  • The bigger the forest is, the bigger the trees tend to be.
  • Foxes can now spawn in forests, but rarely.

Changes to the desert biome

  • Strays can now spawn in deserts, but with a different texture.
  • Your hunger bar depletes a little faster in a desert.
  • Especially in deserts, but also in other biomes, you will get the nausea effect when your hunger bar is below 2.

Changes to aquatic biomes

  • Deep oceans are now a lot deeper.
  • Squid now spawn more rarely in rivers and shallow oceans, but spawn a lot in deep oceans.
  • Drowned now give off a faint glow.

Weapons now have different rarities:

  • Expendable
  • Durable
  • Epic
  • Legend
  • Mythic

1.24.1: Minor Food Update

  • Sushi- Crafted with dried kelp and raw fish.
  • Apple Juice- Crafted with an apple and a bowl.
  • Orange- Dropped from trees in jungle and savanna biomes.
  • Orange Juice- Crafted with an orange and a bowl.
  • Apple Pie- Crafted with milk, sugar, an egg, apples, and wheat.

Mobs

  • Brown Bear- A neutral mob found in forests and taigas. They are basically brown polar bears.
  • Black Bear
  • Squirrel- A passive mob found in forests. They drop squirrel fur and raw squirrel.
  • Deer- A passive mob found in forests. They drop raw venison, but also drop deer fur (I added fur in my 1.20 update).
  • Moose- A neutral mob found in taigas. They have lots of health, lots of attack damage, and drop antlers, which can be crafted with an amethyst crystal into enchanted antlers.
  • Scorpion- A neutral mob found in deserts and badlands. They give you the poison effect.
  • Oyster- A passive mob found in oceans. They drop pearls.
  • Bioluminescent Shrimp- A passive mob found in deep oceans that glows. It can be trapped in a bucket.

Trees

  • Palm wood, stripped wood, plank, etc.
  • Pine wood, strippped wood, plank, etc.
  • Maple wood, blocks, and items.

Items

  • Infinity Blade- A weapon that has a 0.5% chance to spawn in a jungle temple. It is basically the best weapon in the game, but has a long cooldown and cannot be enchanted, meaning it will break if you use it as your primary weapon.
  • Pearl- An item dropped by oysters. Villagers will give you lots of emeralds for them, and they can be used to craft blocks of pearl.
  • Antlers- Dropped by Moose.
  • Deer Fur- A variant of fur dropped by deer. It can be used as a carpet or hung on the wall as a decoration. It can also be made into armor, like seal fur.
  • Squirrel Fur- A variant of fur dropped by squirrels. It can be used just like deer and seal fur.

  • Cooked Squirrel
  • Raw Venison
  • Cooked Venison
  • Venison Stew- Crafted like rabbit stew but with cooked venison
  • Squirrel Stew
  • Deer fur armor
  • Squirrel fur armor

  • Pearl Block- A decorative block crafted with pearls.

Biomes

  • Barren Tundra- A biome with a lot of podzol, spruce and pine trees, and dead bushes.
  • Palm Island- A small island with some palm trees.
  • Jungle Island- A little jungle on an island.
  • Maple Forest
  • Tropical Beach- A beach with palm trees and occasionally jungle ones.
  • Soul Sand Deltas- A Soul Sand Valley but with large basalt spikes that usually have some Soul Lava on top.

Strucutres

  • Woodland Palace- A huge structure that generates deep in Maple Forests.
  • Little Ocean Temple- A small prismarine gazebo with a chest. These generate on islands, and a skeleton head always generates
  • Temple of the Creeper- A creeper temple!!!

Advancements

  • Really Overpowered- Have golden boots, Netherite chestplate and leggings, a blaze crown, and stand on a Block of Ascension all at the same time.
