Minecraft 2.0.0, Caves & Canyons, is the first part of Minecraft 2.0. It adds a lot more types of caves and ravines after 1.17, and was released on April 17, 2028.
Changes[]
- Bugs fixed.
- Improved cave generation.
- Added some edition-exclusive commands to all editions, like /Setmaxplayers, which is a Bedrock Edition exclusive command.
- Fixed some broken cave generation in the Far Lands.
- The Clad Skeleton and Soul Inferno are buffed, they now are stronger the second time you fight them.
- If dungeons generate near caves that have new stone that can be found nowhere else, they generate out of that stone.
- Ravines now can generate in large ravine systems.
- Fossils can be found in badlands, and where there is one there may be more.
- Mushroom stew can now be made with the new Overworld mushrooms.

Cave and Ravine Generation[]
Caves & Canyons adds a lot more cave and ravine types after 1.17, which only added a few.
Ashen Caves
- Only generate deep, deep in the ground.
- A small cave with a pool of hot lava.
- Has different exclusive blocks, Ash Blocks, Ashstone, and Magma Berries.
- Dungeons generate with Cobblestone, Mossy Cobblestone, Ash Blocks, and Dark Oak Planks.
Ashen Ravines
- Ravines filled with the new ash blocks.
- Full of lava and obsidian.
- Has magma blocks and the new magma-related plants.
Crystal Caves
- An End cave full of Amber and Bleeding crystal blocks.
- Cave Crystals, a new type of crystal, also generate, along with Crystal Dripstone.
Desert Caves
- Caves that generate in the desert now have their own look.
- Generate filled with sand that could fall on you if you break one piece.
- Have the new stone type, Dunestone, which is taken from a video that revamped the Desert Temple. I will put a link later.
- Dungeons generate with Dunestone, Mossy Dunestone, Palm Planks, and Sandstone.
Double Ravines
- A Nether ravine that goes up to the roof and down to the bottom.
- Whatever biome it is in spawns at the bottom and top.
Forest Caves
- An underground forest lit by Glow Mushrooms.
- Hedgehogs spawn here.
- Dungeons generate normally, but with Oak instead of Dark Oak and with Polished Diorite instead of Diorite.
Forest Canyons
- A large ravine that usually has a roof.
- Has an underground forest like Forest Caves.
- Hedgehogs spawn here.
- Wardens can occasionally be found roaming these Canyons.
Ice Caves
- Another biome-exclusive cave.
- Generates with a lot of ice and snow.
- Can give you the frostbite effect if you stay for too long.
- Dungeons here generate with Blue Ice, Snow, Spruce and Pine planks, and Andesite.
Icy Ravines
- A new ravine type full of ice and snow.
- The water is frozen, and there is now lava.
- Lit dimly by Icelights, a new block.
Shulk Caves
- A new End cave filled with Shulkerite and Infected Endstone.
- Shulk Slimes spawn here.
Shroom Caves
- New type of cave found exclusively under Mushroom Islands.
- Generates with Shroomstone.
- Generates with all the new Mushroom types.
Slime Canyons
- An Overworld ravine full of slime blocks and slimes.
- The only mobs that can spawn here are slimes, but the new Red Slimes, which are very dangerous, can also spawn.
Void Ravines
- An End ravine that goes down into the void.
- Voidstone spawns here.
- A new mob, The Seeker, lives here.
Warped Caves
- A Nether cave that generates with Warped Trees and Warpstone.
- The Warper spawns here.

- Crafted with four Gems of Warping
- Gives whoever stands on it the Warp effect.
- Is basically like a Block of Ascension, having a cooldown and all, but a negative version.
Cave Crystal Block
- Found in the End in crystal caves.
- Is a dark blue color.
- Faintly glows.
Cave Crystal Dripstone
- The End variant of Dripstone.
- Blue.
- Can fill a cauldron with Acid.
Cave Light Crystal
- Cave Crystal that glows a lot more.
- Found in Crystal Caves.
Chorusonium Ore
- Taken from Ravagergamer2008’s End Update.
- Will explode when touching water.
- Is this only thing that floats on acid.
- Can be made into Refined Chorusonium Ingots by combining them with Ender Pearls, and those can be used to make a new tier of armor.
- Rarity: As rare as gold.

- Found in Desert Caves and rarely around the desert.
- Looks a bit like cobblestone, but yellow-ish.
- Also generates in Desert Temples.

Deathcap Mushroom Block

Enchanted Stone
- Was voted for in MineCon 2027 along with the Enchanting biome.
- When broken, it drops a random mineral, a random log, a random amount of experience, and gives you a random effect.
Glowing Mushroom Block
- A new type of Mushroom.
- Found in Forest Caves and Shroom Caves.
- When part of a giant mushroom, they will let off a low light level.
Icelight
- A glowing block found in Ice Caves.
- It is blue and white.
- Gives off a light level of 9.
Magma Dripstone
- The Nether variant of Dripstone.
- Is orange.
- Can slowly fill a cauldron with lava.
Shroomstone
- Taken from TheCrayCray’s 1.23 Update.
- Looks a bit like Diorite but with a less “noisy” texture.
- Is purple.
- Generates in Shroom Caves and under Mushroom Islands.

Mobs[]
- Spawns in Forest Caves and Forest Ravines.
- Is really cute.
- Scares off hostile mobs, especially undead ones.
- Cannot be tamed.
- Is a neutral mob.
Haunted Zombie
- Only spawns in the deepest caves underground.
- Can inflict the blindness effect.
- Does more damage than normal zombies, and is friends with Wardens.
Red Slime
- New Overworld slime type.
- Spawns in Slime Canyons.
- Does twice as much damage as slimes and is twice as big.
Shulk Slime
- Spawns in Shulk Caves.
- Looks like a Magma Cube, but the outer part is like a Blue Shulker Box and the inside is green like a slime.
- Is hostile and does 10 hearts of damage when not wearing armor.
Seeker
- Spawns in Void Ravines.
- Can spot players from over 200 blocks away and will then hunt them down.
- Does not despawn.
- Looks like a phantom, but black with green eyes and with a lot more health.
Sunken
- New hostile Skeleton that has sunken into lava and is now fireproof
- Spawns in Ashen Caves.
- Drops Fire Charges.
- In one snapshot, a Skeleton could “Drown” in lava to turn into a Sunken, but that got removed.

- Spawns in Warped Caves.
- Looks like an Enderman, but shorter and the color of Warpstone.
- Will throw you into the air and inflict the Warp effect, which is a combination of poison, levitation, and nausea.

- Dropped by Chorusonium Ore when not mined with Silk Touch.
- Burns in Water, but floats on Acid.
- Can be used to craft Chorusonium TNT and Chorusonium Blocks.
Refined Chorusonium Ingot
- Crafted like a Netherite ingot, but with Chorusonium Shards and Ender Pearls.
- Can be used to craft Refined Chorusonium Blocks and Chorusonium Armor.
- Does not burn in Water, but still floats on Acid.
Chorusonium Helmet
- Crafted with Refined Chorusonium Ingots.
- Is better than Diamond, but below Netherite and Far Diamond.
- When wearing this, Acid does less damage.

- Can grow into Giant Deathcap Mushrooms.

- Can enchant mobs, much like an Enchanter in Minecraft Dungeons does.
- Has a 10 minute cooldown after 2 uses.
Gem of Warping
- Dropped by a Warper.
- Currently only used to craft a Block of Warping, but will have more use in a later update.
Glowing Mushroom
- Can grow into Giant Glowing Mushrooms.
- Found in Forest Caves and Shroom Caves.
- Can be made into Mushroom Stew, but will give you the glowing effect when eating that.
Orb of Enchanting
- Found in the Enchanting biome in the middle of the island.
- Can only be broken with Diamond+ tools.
- Used to craft the Enchanter’s Staff.
Seeker Wand
- Can be used to reveal any nearby mobs.
- Has a long cooldown.
- Dropped by a Seeker.
Chorusonium Dynamite
- Crafted with a Tripwire Hook, a Water Bottle, and a Chorusonium Shard.
- Can be thrown.
- Works like a bow, but will explode on you if you hold it for longer than three seconds.
Structures[]
Ruined Entrance
- A destroyed stone entrance to a cave.
- Only spawns near large caves, so if you see one you know there’s a large cave nearby.
- Can have some good loot, like iron, emeralds, diamonds, and a lot of stone.
- Rarity: Rare
Ravine House
- The typical starter house you’d build in a ravine.
- A zombie villager spawns there in a cell, and half the time the ingredients to cure it spawn in a chest.
- Generates with different blocks depending on the biome.
- Rarity: Rare.
Warper Temple
- A temple to the Warper.
- Only found rarely in Warped Caves.
- Ancient Debris can generate nearby.
- Rarity: Super Rare

Warp
- Given by the Warper.
- Is a combination of Poison, Nausea, and Leviation.
- It is advised to fight a Warper in a cave because of this.
