The Snare Vine is a hostile mob that can snag the player and prevent them from moving, similar to what a lead does to an animal. The snare vine is affixed to the ground and unable to move, but its pink claw can reach out 10 blocks in any direction to snag the player, dragging them to within 5 blocks. Once a player is grabbed, the snare vine will hang on for 25 seconds before letting go, and can only be pried off by killing the mob.

Snare vines have 10 health (half as much as a player), but their claw is armored with 12 armor points. Their main body resembles a gourd or pitcher plant with a single red flower, from which the claw emerges. Only the body and claw, not the vine pixels connecting them, can be hit.

Though the snare vine doesn't deal damage to the player directly, it does poison them. A larger danger is the snare vine's ability to hold the player and restrict them from escaping hostile mobs.

The snare vine's only drops are EXP and seeds, so there is little gain from fighting them. Thankfully, the vine's claw can be batted away using a sword, much like a ghast fireball. If the claw takes enough damage before latching on, it will cancel its attempt to grab the player. The amount of damage depends on the difficulty setting. If the player wants to quickly eliminate these enemies to clear a path through a dangerous area, they can simply knock their claws away and use flint and steel to burn the weeds down.

Similar to shulkers and a few other immobile mobs, snare vines are not capable of moving on their own or being pushed or knocked back, but unlike shulkers, they can fall if the block below them is broken. Snare vines cannot ride in minecarts or boats.
