The Tide Pool Worm is a one-biome-exclusive hostile mob that burrows underground. This mob has three antennae and two deadly mandibles on its head, which itself rests upon a series of small segments. Tide pool worms can survive underwater or on land, and prefer to burrow into sand whenever possible; When a worm is hidden in the sand, it is nearly impossible to spot, but there is one slightly darkened pixel that can be spotted on the face of the sand, allowing alert players to keep an eye out.

The tide pool worm has 14 health (HeartHeartHeartHeartHeartHeartHeart) and can deal 8 damage (HeartHeartHeartHeart) with its pincers, along with having a 10% chance of inflicting the poison effect on any mob that it hits, or any mob that hits it. Tide pool worms will attack any mob or player that touches the block they're burrowing in, or any solid/liquid block adjacent to it, including water, except for grubbers.

If a worm is forced from its home by way of using a shovel on the block it's burrowing in, it will angrily follow the player that unearthed it for 15 seconds, or until the player gets 20 blocks or further away from it (which isn't too difficult as it is a very slow mob). The worm will then search for a new sand block to burrow into.

Tide Pool Worms spawn in beach biomes. They do not spawn in stone beaches or cold beaches, nor "beach-like" biomes such as the mushroom island shore or the edges of mesas. However, they also spawn in White Sand Island biomes.
